As much as I hate getting up at 6 am to watch a game, I can’t tell you how enjoyable it is to watch a game with the commercials removed for you already, and the 10 second fast forward button at your disposal. It’s the little things….
So before we get too excited over a much needed win, let’s acknowledge that the Dolphins are bad. Real bad. And as much pleasure as that brings me as a Jets fan, we shouldn’t read too much into the game. But a win is a win, and we did a bunch of encouraging things tonight…
-How bad was the start to the game? I think it was Four 3 and outs? For whatever reason, they have just sucked in the 1st quarter the last 2 years. They ahve to get that fixed. Good teams will put them away early. Sanchez in particular was awful. When he is off, he is real off. They need to figure out a way to get him going early.
-Was it just me, or did they gain positive rushing yardage everytime Conner was in the game? Where the F has that been all year? Enough of these 1 RB sets…pound it with the Terminator.
-Holmes proved why they gave him a big contract – some big catches and a great move on that TD catch. Burress is proving why a lot of teams passed on him. He just looks so disinterested. Kerley is going to be a solid player for a long time. Thanks for playing, Mase.
-O-line had their best game of the year. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come. Solid Pass and run block, and no major blow-ups.
-Sanchez needs to be more consistent. Stating the obvious here, but he’s just so up and down. But no turnovers, and he made some good reads. They need to move him out of the pocket more and continue to use the play-action, which had mysteriously disappeared.
-Revis is still very good. I couldn’t believe how much they threw to him, and he let up a few passes, but man is he good. That 100 yd return was fun.
-Cromartie, on the other hand, is not. Why would he ever be on Marshall, or any #1 receiver for that matter? I just don’t get why Revis isn’t on Marshall the entire game. I actually think Kyle Wilson should be the #2 CB moving forward.
-David Harris is a beast. That hit on Moore was sick. I felt it here in London.
-Hello Aaron Maybin! Where is this dude coming from? He’s found a nice home in Rex’s D as a specialist. Liking the look of him.
-Run D was solid
-I love Rex – blitzing on 4th down with 8 seconds left and the game in hand. He was sending a message for sure: I’m fat and crazy (speaking of, is he getting fatter as the season goes on? Its like watching Oprah)
-Ugh, what is normally the most solid unit, did not look good. You know Westhoff is going to destroy someone this morning. If they were playing any other team, they would have converted that turnover on the KO into points.
A few random points:
-Rex sent out Holmes & Moore together for the coin toss. I love Rex – only he would think to do that.
-The talk about Jon Gruden’s new MNF contract was ridiculous. Really? Who cares. I liked him better as Chucky the insane psychopath coach.
Next week, big home against SD coming off a bye. Gates might be back, who will cause problems. G shall be in attendance…
Okay, I’m off to have my 7am rally beer.
Til’ next week….
